Research rack systems installed at the NSW DPI Fisheries research site in Narrandera. NSW Fisheries engaged Fresh By Design to design and install a research tank room that allows them to conduct controlled research within the facility. Environmental factors such as air temperature and water temperature can be controlled, allowing experiments to run all year round. Research may include cold water pollution, temperature tolerances, otolith daily ageing, genetics, spawning cues and breeding, and threatened species advancement. The facility includes 4 racks each holding 4 x 80 L glass tanks, plus 1 rack holding 20 x 80 L glass tanks. Each rack has individual filtration, temperature control and aeration. The rack systems were built and assembled in the FBD workshop before delivery, to reduce time and cost on site.
